This was my first visit but will definitely not be my last! My two boys (7 & 2) loved it, we even ran into a Holby City celeb which was exciting. Loads of floors to discover and displays everywhere. They have a gift shop but you don't have to go through it to exit like a lot of other places. Great free educational day out!!
Great little museum, perfect for young children. My son loves to draw the animals using the clipboard and pencils provided. Can get very busy at weekends. If you've got kids, best to leave the pushchair at home as space is tight in the museum and the lift is popular.
An amazing collection of different species, some creatures you would never see in captivity and others being extinct. Such a shame to be only able to see them once preserved, yet also a privilege as where else could they be seen. Great for small children and adults alike, who can't manage the sheer size of the sister museum in London. Highly recommend.
I visited once when I was younger and once again recently for my boyfriends birthday, it was still how I remembered it and was very interesting. Everything was in good condition and was amazing to look at as the animals look so alive and were well done, if you dont like taxidermy this museum probably isnt for you but I really enjoyed all the different sections of the museum and I think this would be a really good place to go for school trips for all ages as its informative and could be great for photography and art although the lights reflect off the glass making it difficult to get a good picture, overall I really enjoyed my time there as I spent about 2 hours walking around.
This is a fantastic place to visit. I spent at least six hours looking around the museum, which I was not expecting. There are so many interesting things to see. It really does make you appreciate the natural world and its diversity. The museum is child/ family-friendly, and engaging, which is impressive for a collection that is well over 100 years old. I would warmly recommend a trip there, and visit Tring whilst you are there. There is a lovely Rememberance park away from the bustle.
